Yarn Ball Boogie

Love Hate Love Hate Love Hate

It feels good to have everything come together. Everything in order. Well, almost everything. If I could just get rid of those homicidal urges I have every time I go to work.

Mr. Nodeth and I worked together again on a big beefy boy. We don’t often work together on boys; the “again” part is referring to us working together again. And I love what we come up with:

Pattern link HERE.

When it comes to cables - I have a love/hate thing. I love the look, texture, and all that other stuff people love about cables. But I HATE doing them. Hate charts, too. I mean, I like them and their functionality, but I hate that I can’t just read them and perform what they’re asking me to perform. I have to refer back to the explanations. And refer back. And refer back. And every time I have to flip pages back and forth, I go, “ugh. again”

I’ll shut my trap now. I’m bitching about nothing. At least I can use my fingers.

Model: Shaun Lanaire

Well you just keep cranking them out, don’t you? Love this! Love cables, but struggle too. They hurt my hands. They are worth the sacrifice though. I’ll have to check with my boys and see if either of them would like to go big and beefy. (Neither one is without this sort of enhancement.)

The sweater is great, but where ever you found that model must be paradise. If the men in my life looked anything like him, I might actually knit them sweaters.

beautiful. the sweater and the boy. wow.

I feel the same way about Ravelry. I love the resource and being able to meet and have such a nice central place for so much info, but ACH!!!

Enough said about that. The sweater is absolutely GORZGEOUS! I’m gonna knit my husband one and then steal it!

Love that great big cable! And I agree(1) about loving cables but not loving doing them (especially from charts!). Fantastic sweater.
    Gorgeous model, too.

    Love that model! :)

For some reason, though, Internet Explorer doesn’t like your page format. half the text is obscured by the black border. Works fine in Firefox, though.

I love the way the cables stand out and the little bit of green. I also hate doing cables.

  15. September 23rd, 2008 | 4:19 pm

quite nice :-) i wish i didn’t look disgusting in turtlenecks right about now.

  16. September 23rd, 2008 | 6:26 pm

Oh this is truly one of your best yet! I love the chunkiness of it but most especially the contrasting trim detail.

  17. September 23rd, 2008 | 6:45 pm

OMG! I *love* this sweater. Makes me want to go find a man who doesn’t hate wearing turtlenecks (sadly, the hub does :( ).

  18. September 23rd, 2008 | 8:28 pm

Both of them are striking. Thank you for yet another beautiful pattern (and eye candy wearing it).
I think I may be alone when I say I love knitting cables?

  20. September 24th, 2008 | 11:10 am

Not sure which I want to cuddle up with more. The sweater or the yummy model.

  21. September 24th, 2008 | 7:41 pm

OOh, you posted the whole thing for free? You’re amazing! And those cables are amazing! I’m a little afraid of charts, not sure if I hate them, though. Hm.

  22. September 24th, 2008 | 9:37 pm

  25. September 25th, 2008 | 4:36 pm

having trouble with the webpage too - part of it is black and part is white - I can’t read unless I “highlight” the text

    great great job!!!

  26. September 26th, 2008 | 5:24 pm

It’s great! Thank you so much for sharing! I love it so much I want to make one for my man and myself . . . but I think it might be cheesy for us to have matching sweaters so maybe I’ll only make one for me. By the way I’m making an Envy right now and I love it. Thanks again!

  27. September 26th, 2008 | 6:45 pm

and now being able to actually seeing and reading the whole thingy i love it even more. these are the cables that dreams are made of. i love cables and the enigma of cables for non knitters. congrats on cables and the delightful photo shoot.

  28. September 27th, 2008 | 7:19 am

Holy Crap! Gorgeous! Oh, and the sweater’s pretty amazing too! And it’s FREE? Good Lord! Thanks again for the inspiration! I’m a sort of new knitter and trying something like this sweater would definitely stretch my skills. Thanks for the way your knitting mind works. I love your style and your patterns. God, I’m gushing! I’m stopping now………….

This is absolutely beautiful! My sons don’t let me knit for them since they got to be taller than me! Huh! But I know at least 2 of them would wear this and proudly!
Where can I get the pattern please?
    Thanks Ems

This is a great pattern but could someone please tell me what rsd means int eh following line.

Next row (RS): work to 5 sts rem, p2tog, rsd, p1.

    Many thanks and happy knitting

    Am working on this now.
    It’s a great sweater.

I’ve noticed that row 7 should include p4 after the first stitches from the CN are knit (and purled).

Rsd is in the pattern under row 25.

Can somebody please verify if the sleeves really require a 60 st cast on? This is the same width as the front/back cast on.

Thanks, and thanks for the gorgeous sweater pattern.

Yesssss!!! that’s all I have to say, this sweater is the definition of fierce attitude!! Although I might go with a different cable up the front just for personal preference :) You did a great job and I’m excited to start this/see what you’ll come up with next. Yay for men’s sweater designers!!

Of course, the challenge here is not the cabling, but finding a guy who’d actually be caught dead in this buffoon’s rag! How many drinks did it take before this model would stand still while the hideous thing was forced on?

  37. March 4th, 2010 | 5:14 pm

i’m with everybody. that model is to die for.

i’m not sure i could do a proper fitting without a copping a sneaky feel.

the sweater IS gorgeous, tho, btw - i’ve me one hot washboard-stomached young man i’m willing to break the curse for, and he looks really good in beautiful manclothes like this (enough that i have to fight the men off of him, seriously - he’s a pretty one, and the men are worse than the women - and probably because he’s not only hot but comfortable with himself).

    Wow !

Love the pattern - funky, cool - am now a huge fan !! its the first one that the boyfriend likes as much as me ;-) (the pattern that is…) have had to order wool from the US as he wants it exactly like the piccies ( ouchy to the customs man!!)

Am currently working on it - burly spun is fantastic - spend more time burying my face in it than knitting though…..ooo btw Can anyone help with sleeve width - I am guessing about 32 st from the piccies ?

    Hugs and Thanks
